‘DevaBhaasha’ is the world’s first Sanskrit card game. Anyone over 8 years with knowledge of Devanagari script can play this game. Play solo or with up to 6 players.
‘Is knowledge of Sanskrit necessary to play?’
No. Devabhaasha’s game logic is based on Sanskrit grammar, so knowledge of Sanskrit is not necessary to play the game.
Level 1 familiarises players with the basics of Grammar, Gender and Sentence formation. has been created with inputs from Sanskrit scholars, teachers, students and game designers. DevaBhaasha exposes you to 60-70% of basic Sanskrit concepts. It makes Sanskrit simpler by using visuals, colours and icons. As you play the game repeatedly, you will recall grammar rules faster, making your next step on the journey of this beautiful language relatively easier.

The reason we were able to design DevaBhaasha is SATTVA – Sanskrit Academy for Teachers Training and Value Addition founded by Dr. Swaroop.
SATTVA has a robust training program on Sanskrit and trains teachers as well using DevaBhaasha.
The Journey
At Coolture Designs we have always wanted to design original Indian games. In the meantime Toycathon came up and we submitted a concept. And we made it to the finals. That is how Dr. Swaroop Sharma – a Sanskrit scholar, Dr. Savitha a doctor at an eye hospital in Bangalore and learner of Sanskrit and Neelacantan (founder, Coolture), all students under Dr. Swaroop came together to create . brings a game mechanics flavour to familiarise yourself with one of the worlds oldest and classical languages.
Anybody over 8 years old with a knowledge of the Devanagri script can learn the game. Aided by the beautiful illustrations by Harsh Pandya, it is a simple, colourful and visual construct that guarantees hours of fun and subliminal learning.
We hope that you play with family, friends and grandparents. It is our wish that be the first step in the journey of learning this great language of India for anyone who aspires to do so.
